Need some uplifting? Read This!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever been bummed one day and happy the next? Have you ever felt strongly about something and then suddenly changed your mind? Have you ever been attracted to a guy and later decided he was a loser?
Each of these three questions has one thing in common: They all relate to how you feel. Guess what! We can’t always trust our feelings. Emotions turn on a dime, and they’re extremely unreliable. They’re also deceptive, especially in the teen years when hormones are flying high.

In Touch
As females, we tend to be more in touch with our feelings than our male counterparts are. We’re more apt to cry at sad movies and experience mood swings. One of the signs of maturity is the ability (and the willingness) to overrule feelings with reason. This might lead you to hang in there when you feel like quitting . . . to put the brakes on sexual desire when you feel like giving in . . . to bite your tongue when you feel like yelling . . . to save your money when you feel like blowing it . . . to put someone else’s needs above your own. These are mature responses that can’t occur when emotions are in charge.

Grounded in Christ
When our lives are rooted in Christ, we have a greater capacity to manage our emotions. Of course, even with God’s help, our feelings will fluctuate. This is part of the human condition. Sometimes people make us so angry that we want to clobber them. Fear, fatigue and hormonal changes can wreak havoc on our ability to stay calm. At times like these, we need to draw upon the Lord for His strength.

If there’s ever a time when our emotions go haywire, it’s when we’re attracted to someone, right? We can’t wait to see the guy, and our heart beats faster when we’re around him. If the attraction is mutual, well . . . need I say more? It truly is a state of euphoria!

At some point, though, a reality check comes into play. Either our knight in shining armor falls off his white horse, or we simply return to a degree of normalcy. Either way, what goes up must come down — we can’t live in the clouds forever. Even couples who’ve been happily married for years will tell you that they regularly go through peaks and valleys in their relationship. There’s a definite swing to the emotions of love, just as with every other aspect of feelings. What holds a couple steady for a lifetime of marriage, then, isn’t the consistency of exhilaration; it’s a commitment of the will that overrides fickle feelings. Especially in a marital context, emotions can’t be trusted.

Spiritual Ups and Downs
You may have noticed that your relationship with the Lord travels through ups and downs also. At times you may feel spiritual passion, and other times you may feel nothing at all. This, too, is typical of us all. If your faith is grounded in the Word and not on feelings, it won’t unravel during the mundane periods.

Enjoy the moments of exhilaration when they come, but don’t get hooked on them. Take charge of your emotions, and when it comes time to do the right thing, don’t allow your feelings to lead you astray. This is the best way to experience some of life’s greatest emotions: peace and contentment.

WOW. That was awesome. And very inspiring. Thank You JoJo :) And God Bless.
