How to capture a wedding event is bad weather
One thing you can’t control in a wedding is the weather. You can plan everything else but the weather is out of your hands no matter what you do.As a photographer, well, bad weather is something you can plan for.Obviously you wish you do not need to deal with it.But you want to be ready for whatever weather may happen if you have been assigned a job to do the pictures. So here are some things you can do in case of bad weather in a wedding.
First of all you need a back up plan. No matter what you do you need to have another option for those outdoor shots you planned to take. As a wedding photographer San Diego I usually don’t have to worry about this. But there will be times that bad weather happens. The thing that you can do is make very sure that you have prepared a backup location if the weather does get bad. With a backup place identified you can plan the photographs you will take.
Planning to have more than enough time for the wedding photos is another thing you can do. What this will allow you to do is to hide or cover yourself when the rain is pouring. When the rain slows down you can hurriedly take pictures. I have had to do this several times as a San Diego photographer. It is not the perfect way to take photographs but it will work.
Finally you need to have umbrellas set up.In some situations the weather will not let up and umbrellas will let you take them anyway. In my San Diego portrait photographer business we already have umbrellas ready for many reasons. In reality taking photos with overcast skies look great in pictures. So it is not all bad.
So there are plenty of tips you can use to make the very best out of a bad weather in a wedding event. As mentioned, you have no power to control the weather but you can definitely control your plans and still have great photos.
