Ideas for mini story on body language and dating?

March 13, 2010 · Posted in Flirting Body Language

I’m writing a 20 page paper on body language.
It will be focused on nonverbal communication between men and women and what they do when they first interact with one another, so what their signs of flirting are.
I’d like to begin the paper with a story, starting with "Imagine if you will…" in order to engage the reader.
Any ideas on a plot for a short story (1 pg max)
Thanks in advance!

Well goodness there are tons of books on body language. My favorite is Never Be Lied To Again by PHD David Leiberman. I think the other persons answer is perfect, watch the tv show Lie to Me on fox network. The first season deals more with pointing out the features and what they mean, but it is still a good show. One of the dilemmas of body language is that it isn’t fool proof, so you could put that in your story also. One book could say that a person who raises their eyebrows is fabricating a lie, but news anchors also raise their eyebrows when they are emphasizing a point. A person looking down and sideways could be a sign of shame or guilt or anger, but you don’t necessarily know what that person is feeling guilty for. You can detect a lie, but you don’t always know what a person is lying about. Some people can’t look you in the eye if they are lying, habitual liars absolutely look you in the eye, they want to know if you are believing their story. So you could write a comedic story about miscommunication and meanings in nonverbal communication. Maybe a girl looks down because she is shy and new to dating and isn’t trying to hide anything.
