Kids Wedding Reception Activities
Not all brides and grooms want to exclude children from their wedding. Many are happy to welcome kids into their wedding both as guests of the wedding ceremony party and as guests.
Having kids at a wedding, yet, poses a vast amount of problems. Do you leave the youngsters to their own devices and hope they are good and don’t get in the way? Do you provide a room with childcare so they are “present” but not too much under foot? Possibly the best solution is a simple mix of both, with a smattering of fun built in.
Initially, if youngsters are invited to the wedding ceremony, take into consideration the ages of the children. Babies will have to keep with mother and/or dad, for a mixture of reasons. So planning to have all the youngsters in another room may not be feasible. But if the youngsters are tots up to about age 12, you can supply a different room for them with childcare and a make a few pursuits available to them.
If the kids will be in some other room at the reception, you can give a coloring table, perhaps a tv with a suitable movie ready to roll, and some board games. That may probably be adequate throughout the wedding reception. Be aware of a small number of things: there should be a ratio of at least 1 adult for every 5 children if the youngsters are toddlers, or 1 adult to every 10 children if the kids are older. Don’t expect the children to take up the pursuits by themselves, but rather tell the childcare provider to get the kids involved in the activities by doing them him or herself.
What if the kids will be associated with the reception festivities? What pursuits can be geared only to children at the reception? The’re plenty of things you can do, really. You can for certain plan a coloring table in the back of the reception hall or room. There, you can give a lot of paper, coloring books, markers and crayons. Paints are not suggested, for obvious reasons, and moms will thank you if you remember to supply the children with washable markers and crayons only.
The art table can be more than simply coloring, all the same. Buy a massive bag of pipe cleaners. Children can amuse themselves for long periods of time, making animals, odd figures and the like. Make sure you have at least 20 or more pipe cleaners for each youngster, still, as children can do go through these rapidly. Consider “clean” clay, the new products that don’t stay with anything and do not leave a mark on furniture. With a few different colors, children can create a variety of figures, faces or forms.
Many brides like to plan more formally for their small guests. The’re a number of options if this is the route you want to take. One popular alternative is to have paid entertainment available just for the youngsters. This can take place in some other room or toward the back of the reception room or hall if it’s large and your guest list is big. You can hire a clown or a balloon artist. You might have someone braid the kids hair and offer temporary tattoos. If there is a separate room available, you can also hire a children’s musician to come and entertain the children. The choices are endless.
If no plans are designed for the children, but they arrive at the marriage ceremony expecting entertainment, you will have to make some plans. One alternative is a “child only” dance, that lets only the kids on the dance floor. This is not only cute to observe, and might be entertaining as well, but it will bring a smile to the face of every grandparent present.
