Some Unique Snow Day Activities
If you are reading this article, you might be looking for unique things to do with your children while they are stuck at home from school for one reason or another. For some, this might be as a result of a snow day, while there could be other reasons, the result is the same. You have to figure out a way to make things interesting for them, or they are going to drive you bananas.
The thing to keep in mind here, is that there are literally thousands of things that you could do from the comfort of your own home that your kids are going to love. This article is centering on just a few different things that you might try, and hopefully they can appease the troops for a short time anyway. Additionally, you might find yourself inspired to try other things from these ideas.
One thing that you are going to have to keep in mind, though. These suggestions are more geared towards appeasing children of a certain age demographic, so you might have to consult elsewhere if your kids aren’t between the ages of being in preschool and the fifth grade. So if they fall in this category, these should be some pretty good suggestions to get you started.
One fun thing that you and the children can do is to make personalized smoothies. This is going to take some set up from you, putting out things for a smoothie that will all taste good together in any order or arrangement. So an array of fruits are always a good call here, and allow them to pick out the different fruits that they want in their smoothie, blend it with your hand blender, and name it after them. They’ll love it.
You should also consider rooms of the house that the kids aren’t typically allowed to play. For instance, set up forts on the ends of sleigh beds in the home. These types of beds are perfect for hanging sheets from for a great fort. You would be very surprised to learn how much every child loves pretending to play in a fort, and with you included in the mix the fun could last a long time.
You might not want to dip out of your routines while the kids are at home, though. For instance, if you exercise from a certain time to another certain time in the day, don’t stray from that. Do your best to try and include them along in the process. That does not mean going out and buying mountain bike for you so that you can ride around the block with the kids, but hey, that doesn’t sound like such a bad idea either.
The truth is, that there are many different things that you can do when the kids are at home from school with no apparent plans. While it might not be building a fort, making smoothies or circling the block on bikes, there is no shortage of possibilities. The real over achievers might take some time to use the at home time to still provide a little bit of education to their children, but that’s entirely up to you.
