The other evening I was watching a tv programme about who women style themselves on.
I personally think we are all individuals and hate to follow any set fashion style.I am my own person and if people don’t like what I am wearing then that’s their lookout and not mine. I’m not going to rush to the shops to buy the clothes just because so and so is wearing them.
However, my thirteen year old daughter is passionate about following the latest trends and the person she is following at the moment is Pixie Lott.It is funny that Pixie is only a few years older than my daughter and already she is a massive pop star. It’s astounding that they are a little girl one moment and then in a blink of the eye they are huge pop stars.
Currently my daughter and her friends are absolutely obsessed with any sort of silver jewellery. Her dressing table is absolutely crammed full of silver necklaces and silver bracelets.I can’t see that she will ever wear half of it, but she buys it anyway just because her favourite pop idol is wearing it.
It is amazing how many of these pop stars start out their careers singing a few songs, then a few years later low and behold they bring out their own fashion ranges and so our teenagers still continue to buy their products.
Their management are very clever and I suppose they know that their clients only have a relatively short shelf life, so try to make the very most out of them.
Mind you, saying all that, I can remember the days when I was a teenager and I got to go and see my favourite band – Adam and The Ants. They were absolutely brilliant live and for weeks and weeks I pestered my parents to buy me a jacket just like the one that Adam had.I cam within a hairs whisker of my dad actually buying me a jacket, but just when I thought I had it, mum came along and put the mockers on me getting it.So perhaps things aren’t really that different nowadays, it’s just that I’m no longer a teenager!!
