Signs that a shy guy is flirting with you?

I like my best friend (I’ve known him for 2 years but we’ve only been close friends for about a month) but he’s REALLY shy. Normally he wont even talk to the girls he likes. He’s really cute and everyone says we should go out but how can I tell if he’s flirting with me? We’re really close and we’re partners for everything in class (apart from when his friends accuse him of liking me) What are some signs a shy guy likes you?
