Planning Ahead For Your Prom
There is more to going to your senior prom than buying a dress and spreading on some makeup. For it to be everything you dreamed of, some careful and early planning is needed.
A small and attractive journal is something you might want to get for this special occasion, to keep things organized. A nice little book from the stationery store can become your diary for the event. Assuming that you’ve already selected a date, which is most important. So let’s move on to the other things. Some things to put on your to do list include buying the ticket, planning the transportation, choosing a dress and accessories, and planning an after-party shindig.
That’s The Ticket
Ask anyone, advance planning is key. If you need proof take a clue from your own school. Most schools issue prom packets in February or March. Forms, protocol, and deadlines are included in the kit to inform you of all you need to know. So you need to keep it in a safe place. Keeping some notes in your prom journal is a good idea, to remind you of important dates.
Your Chariot Awaits
A big part of going to the prom is riding in a limousine. But remember, there are only so many to go around. Early reservations need to be made. Be sure you have a written statement of everything you are promised when booking your ride. This is important because mistakes can be made when people are busy. The last thing you want is to miss out on you big night because your ride didn’t show up.
Limousines are expensive and could take out a big piece of your budget so getting some couples in on the action wouldn’t be a bad idea. The cost would be a lot of cheaper if more people chip in on the bill.
The Clothes
Waiting for the last minute is always a bad idea whether it’s a tux or a dress you need because you’ll have no choice but to get whatever is left in the shop. Specialty shops need time in doing the alterations or for special orders in size or color. As an added incentive, most tux rental shops offer discounts for early shoppers.
After Party
Most proms go by the Cinderella curfew, midnight. By that time you’ll have taken in enough sugar and carbs to keep you active until the wee hours of the morning. If you are planning a post-prom party there are some things you will need to consider. Transportation to the venue and back home needs to be arranged. Check with your limo rental agency to see if your service ends at a particular time.
Call ahead to make reservations and arrangements if you plan to head out to a restaurant. Some eateries get nervous at the sight of teenagers in groups and you may be turned away at the door.
Thinking ahead keeps you in control. Everything will fall into place smoothly, if the tiny details have been taken cared of.
