First off, remember that it’s often tricky for girls too.  It’s a common complaint of theirs that they’ll show a guy so many signals to talk to them, yet he does nothing.

In one classic study, researchers at a bar looked at how often a woman had to use body language to get him to notice her, and it usually took at least three tries.  At the same time, the girl would think she was being really obvious just using one signal.

We’re going to show you how to avoid that.  The first sign to be aware of is how she smiles at you.  A women who smiles widely, with all of her pearly whites showing, is showing interest, while one who keeps her lips shut tight while smiling is showing polite disinterest.  Another tell of a sincere smile is the eyes…the skin around them should crinkle when she means it, while if she’s just being polite the eyes are often flat.

A subtle but powerful signal to look for is pupil dilation.  Pretty much no one can fake their pupils so picking up on this one will get you around fakers.  When men and women see someone they like, their pupils will dilate, becoming bigger to absorb more light.  When we don’t like whoever we’re talking to, the opposite happens and our pupils get smaller.  This often registers at an unconscious level when we “just know” that someone likes or dislikes us, but it’s well worth learning how to do this at will.

A simple but effective way to tell if a girl likes you is noting how much she opens or closes herself off to you.  If you’re talking to a girl at a party and she crosses her arms and puts her legs together defensively, then she’s not receptive.  On the flip side, when she opens her arms and spreads out her feet, she’s signaling trust and interest in you.

Becoming skilled at reading these body language cues helps greatly when you try to pick up on the signs a girl likes you.  The best way to make this a part of how you interact with girls is to practice with everyone:  when talking to store clerks, look for whether they’re being genuinely friendly to you or when they’re just faking politeness.  Make it a habit to tell where you stand with your boss and fellow employees.  Make this a part of your day to day existence, and your love life will improve.
